JP lived life to the fullest.
Never afraid of an adventure, JP Griffith lived every moment of his life to the absolute fullest. A true outdoors man, he climbed granite slabs, kayaked some of the most sought after whitewater, dove through narrow caves, flew all around the United States, hiked the CO 14ers, and brewed his own summit beers. JP found pure joy, excitement, and challenges in all that the world has to offer. And he sought even more joy in sharing his many passions with his friends and family.
Many people remarked that JP lived more in his short time with us than many will in their lifetimes, which only makes us forever feel his absence.
“If I had to describe yesterday's 24 hour adventure with one word, it would be Exposure! I climbed 9,000 vertical feet and traveled 22 miles. Over 90% of the route was on technical, vertical walls or traversing on knife-blade thin ridges where any tiny mistake would send me flying thousands of feet down onto big cushiony rocks. I summited 3 different 14ers and got turned back from a 4th less than 500 feet from the summit due to lightning. Overall it was a perfect wrap up to a mountaineering summer.”
“Barefoot, free, & happy.”
“There's nothing quite like soaring at 17,000' above the cloud covered Rocky Mountains at sunset.”
"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure."
